About Wings of Teal
The Ovarian Cancer Support Group of Polk County, Florida, also known as Wings of Teal, is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization based in Polk County, Florida. We are dedicated to providing support and resources to individuals affected by ovarian and gynecological cancers. Our organization offers a safe space where individuals can share their stories, find comfort, and access valuable resources. Through a variety of initiatives, events, and advocacy efforts, we work to raise awareness and support ongoing research. As a volunteer-driven organization, every dollar we raise is reinvested into our programs and services, ensuring that the support we provide directly benefits our community.​
Below are some of the ways our organization assists cancer patients in our community:

First Assist Program: We offer financial assistance to local women facing ovarian or gynecologic cancers for things such as medical expenses, housing, utilities, groceries, gas, and much more. Please email us for an application.

Support Groups: We provide a free in-person monthly support group in Winter Haven and Lakeland with a Zoom option for those who cannot attend in-person. This meeting is held on the 3rd Monday of each month.

Community Teal Awareness Event: We coordinate with local businesses and vendors to host a free annual community event in February to raise ovarian cancer awareness in downtown Lakeland. We have a bounce house, DJ, children’s corner, and over 50 vendor booths to shop at. Additional information about the event can be found here.

Social Media: We manage a private Facebook group that provides patients and caregivers with 24/7 support from individuals who can relate to their experiences. The group is also filled with inspiring and uplifting posts to encourage and motivate its members. We also maintain a public page to keep the community informed about our current events, the latest research, and to raise awareness about ovarian cancer. Join the Facebook Group here!

Teal Gone Mad Tea Party Annual Fundraiser: We host an annual Alice in Wonderland themed tea party fundraiser to support our mission and the First Assist Program.
